Report: Fernandes still hasn’t given up hope of Spurs move today

With minutes left until the transfer window shuts in England, it looks like Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon will both complete their moves to Spurs.

While the move for Dybala seems to have fallen through, recent reports indicate that there is one other deal that can still possibly be completed before the deadline and that is the one for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Portuguese publication A Bola claim that Fernandes still harbours hopes that Tottenham or Manchester United might make one final approach for him. The report claims that Tottenham highest bid of €65 million (€50 million plus add ons) was rejected by Sporting.

The report suggests in case neither Man Utd and Spurs return for him in the final few hours, the Portuguese international will try and engineer a move to Spain or Italy this summer.

Meanwhile, the Mirror have confirmed that the 24-year-old did train with the Sporting first team today, with the training ground being surrounded by military personal, due to fears of attacks from the fans following Sporting’s 5-0 loss to Benfica in the Super Cup a few days ago.

With just hours left until the transfer window shuts, a move for Fernandes looks completely out of the picture. We at Spurs Web believe that Tottenham have had a solid transfer window but it could have been so much better if they had managed to get the Dybala deal over the line.
