Tanguy Ndombele has received rave reviews from the Italian press for his performance in Napoli’s win over Ajax on Wednesday.

Ndombele has not had the best of starts to his loan spell in Naples and has largely been a bit-part player so far this season.

However, the Frenchman has shown some promising signs over recent weeks, and he put in what was arguably his best performance of the season so far on Wednesday as Napoli thrashed Ajax 6-1 in Amsterdam.

After replacing Piotr Zielinski at half-time, the on-loan Tottenham man put in a display full of energy and quality, hitting the bar and picking up an assist with a lovely pass using the outside of his boot to Giovani Simeone.

The print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (05/10/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) have handed Ndombele a rating of 7/10 for his 45-minute stint.

The publication states that the midfielder is becoming ‘an important added value’ for Luciano Spalletti’s side.

The print edition of Corriere dello Sport (05/10/22 via Sport Witness) also gave the 25-year-old the same rating, and remarked that the on-loan Spurs man is now ‘growing’ in a Napoli shirt and that his ‘presence’ is now felt.

Let us hope that Ndombele builds on this performance and establishes himself as key player for Napoli over the coming months. Given that the 25-year-old is clearly not in Conte’s plans, it would be ideal for Spurs if the Serie A club activate the option to buy the midfielder permanently.
