Report: Fiorentina enter race for Spurs midfielder this summer

SportItalia TV journalist Gianluigi Longari has revealed that Fiorentina have now entered the race to sign Erik Lamela.

Lamela is one of several players that Tottenham are reportedly ready to cash in on this summer as the club look to rebuild their squad.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has also claimed that the Argentine is expected to leave Spurs this summer following eight years at the club.

It was previously suggested that the 29-year-old could return to his former club Roma and reunite with Jose Mourinho while Napoli and AC Milan have also allegedly held talks with the Tottenham star’s representatives.

Fiorentina have become the latest Serie A club to be linked with Lamela, with Longari now revealing that the Viola are keen on snapping up the midfielder.

He added that the situation is favourable for Fiorentina to hammer out an agreement since Lamela is now into the final year of his contract with Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

One does hope that Levy has learned from his past mistakes of pricing some of our deadwood out of potential moves. If we are to cash in on the likes of Sissoko, Aurier and Lamela and fast-forward our rebuild, the Spurs chairman will have to set realistic prices, especially under the current economic climate.
