Report: ‘First among all’ – Centre-back star is ‘more than an idea’ for Spurs

InterLive.it (18/11/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) have claimed that Inter Milan want to tie Alessandro Bastoni to a new contract as Tottenham remain keen on signing the centre-back.

Spurs failed with a move for Bastoni in the summer transfer window (Football.London) but over recent weeks, the North Londoners have been backed to try and sign the Inter star again in the future (Fichajes).

Alasdair Gold remarked on his YouTube channel earlier this month that the centre-back might be difficult to lure away in January and suggested that Tottenham could revisit the deal in the summer.

Inter Live have now claimed that Spurs remain keen on snapping up Bastoni, who is thought to be valued by the Nerazzurri at €55m (£47.8m).

It is alleged that Inter are keen to renew the 23-year-old’s contract as soon as possible amidst ‘attacks’ from English suitors, with Tottenham said to be ‘first among all’.

The report adds that the Italy international is ‘more than an idea’ for Antonio Conte’s men and is a player that is ‘urgently needed’ at the Premier League club.

However, it is explained that Spurs will have to convince Bastoni to make the move as the defender is not keen on leaving the San Siro at the moment.

Spurs Web Opinion

Inter would have no choice but to cash in on Bastoni sooner rather than later if he does not sign a new deal, with his current contract running out in 2024 (Transfermarkt). A left-sided centre-back will not be a priority for Spurs in January, which is why I expect us to put off any pursuit of Bastoni until next summer.
