Report: First-team Spurs star has been training alone recently due to injury concerns

According to a report from Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-min Son has been training alone recently due to injury problems.

Son has had a difficult time this season and has struggled to replicate the form that saw him bag 24 goals last season (Transfermarkt) and win the Premier League Golden Boot award.

This year, Son has just nine goals in 32 appearances, with three assists (Transfermarkt).

The South Korean star has been a shadow of his former self all season, with his finishing and dribbling in particular looking to have deteriorated.

His poor form has seen the 30-year-old dropped from the starting line up of late, with Son having to come off the bench for the West Ham and Chelsea match.

Nevertheless, Son did score against West Ham, and it was his corner that led to Harry Kane’s goal against the Blues last weekend.

Last week, Tottenham’s assistant manager Cristian Stellini revealed Son was dropped to the bench due to fitness issues rather than anything to do with his performances (Football.London).

Now, it seems those fitness issues could be more disruptive than first thought – although Son finally made a return to the starting XI in the FA Cup against Sheffield United last night.

The report from Football.London suggests Son’s injury has left the attacker to take on individual sessions at Hotspur Way, aside from the rest of the Spurs squad.

It is unknown what exactly the injury is, but whatever the situation, it has been deemed appropriate to manage Son’s workload in training and give him the extra attention to help him back to full fitness.

We can only assume this injury is only minor, seen as Son has played some minutes over the last couple of weeks and no official announcement of anything more serious has been released.

Fingers crossed Sonny is able to recover fully soon and get back to the regular starting lineup, but he has to start performing to earn that place first.
