Report: ‘Flood of new scouts’ to be hired as Spurs increase recruitment budget

Tottenham Hotspur have decided to invest further funds into their scouting department, according to Football.London.

The report claims that the north Londoners have increased their budget and are set to bring in further members to the scouting team at both senior and academy level.

The aim of expanding their scouting operations is to increase the number of talented youngsters within the club’s ranks to provide a pathway to the first team.

While the club currently have the likes of Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp who have all come through the age grades at Tottenham, the club have also seen some promising talent slip through their fingers in recent years.

Marcus Edwards, Noni Madueke, Reo Griffiths, Luis Binks and Dilan Markanday are just a host of home-grown players who have headed through the exit door of the Premier League club in recent seasons.

It is refreshing to hear the club is pumping funds into increasing the talent which can come through the club’s academy.  Continually investing multi-million transfer fees into some overseas players has proven to be a waste of money, most recently you only have to look as far as Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso as examples of this.
