Report: Forest reject Tottenham’s opening offer for Brennan Johnson

The Daily Mail have revealed on their live transfer blog that Tottenham’s offer of £40m for Brennan Johnson has been turned down by Nottingham Forest.

It has been widely reported over the last 48 hours that Johnson remains the top attacking target for Ange Posteoclgou (Sky Sports), with various outlets claiming on Thursday that a bid from Spurs for the 22-year-old is imminent (Telegraph).

Forest reject opening £40m bid from Tottenham

If the Mail’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham did send an offer of £40m for the Wales international but it was sent back by the Tricky Trees.

The outlet states that Spurs’ pursuit of Johnson is far from over as the North London club have informed Forest that they plan on making an improved offer.

However, it is explained that the Lilywhites want to finalise a couple of outgoings before making another attempt for the youngster, with the report adding that the deal could go down to the wire.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have no doubt that Tottenham will get the Johnson deal over the line before the 11 pm deadline. I suspect that Spurs will end up paying the £50m that the Tricky Trees are demanding as they are showing no signs of softening their stance.
