In what comes as a sensational transfer update, Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Timo Werner is now on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur on loan.
It has been widely reported over the last month or so that Ange Postecoglou is keen on adding a versatile wide-forward to his squad.
Over the last few days, it has been suggested that Spurs were eyeing the likes of Samuel Iling-Junior, Jota and Donyell Malen (Dean Jones – GiveMeSport).
Timo Werner emerges as a target for Tottenham
In a sensational twist, Plettenberg has now claimed that Spurs are now close to securing the services of Werner from RB Leipzig.
The German international spent two seasons at Chelsea before returning to Leipzig 18 months ago and he has fallen down Marco Rose’s pecking order this season, having made just eight league appearances at the Red Bull Arena (Transfermarkt).
Werner is now thought to be on the verge of returning to London, with Tottenham said to be in the final stages of negotiating a loan deal with an option to buy the forward.
Plettenberg added that the 27-year-old is ready to leave the Bundesliga side’s training camp soon to make the switch to England.

Spurs Web Opinion
It is quite amazing how this transfer seems to have come out of nowhere, with hardly any journalists picking up on talks between the two clubs.
Werner might not be good enough to be a guaranteed starter for Spurs but he would be a very useful squad player, given his ability to play across the frontline, and he would be a natural fit for Postecoglou’s system.
