Report: Former Spurs academy player given second chance in English football

According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, Tottenham academy starlet Nathan Oduwa has been handed a trial by Swansea City and will be assessed over the next few weeks by the Welsh club.

The 23-year-old London-born man, joined the Tottenham academy when he was just 11 years old and progressed through the youth levels before signing his first professional contract in July 2012.

The pacey dribbler also represented England at under-17, under-18, and under-20 levels before going on to represent Nigeria at the under-23 level.

Big things were expected from Oduwa at Spurs but the youngster had mixed results during his loan spells with Luton, Colchester United and Peterborough.

Oduwa did impress in the loan spell he had with Rangers during the first half of the 15-16 season, making 19 appearances for the Scottish giants and scoring once (Wales Online).

However, things went downhill for the wide man from that point as he had spells with Slovenian PrvaLiga club Olimpija Ljubljana and Danish club Vejle Boldklub, before joining Israeli Premier League club Hapoel Hadera, on loan.

The former Spurs man, who is now a free agent now has the opportunity to impress and get his career back on track at the Championship club.

Spurs Web Opinion

Oduwa was very highly rated at Tottenham and it is quite surprising to see how far his career has fallen in a short span of time. It goes to show that one can never be sure how talented young players will mature as they get older. We would like to wish the 23-year-old the best in his new foray with Swansea.
