Report: Former Spurs assistant coach Joao Sacramento in line for manager job

The Sun have revealed that Joao Sacramento, who served as Jose Mourinho’s assistant at Tottenham Hotspur, could be in line for a managerial job in Ligue 1.

Sacramento, who earned a Master’s degree in Sports Coaching and Performance at the University of South Wales, has a background in video analysis.

He has worked with the Wales national team and had spells with Lille and Monaco in Ligue 1, working alongside Marcelo Bielsa and Christophe Galtier at Stade Pierre Mauroy, and under the likes of Claudio Ranieri and Leonardo Jardim at Stade Louis II.

The 33-year-old linked up with Mourinho at Spurs and followed the Portuguese coach to AS Roma but he departed the Serie A club in January to pursue a career as a head coach.

The Sun claim that there is major interest in Sacramento from several European leagues, especially France, with many clubs willing to take a calculated risk on the young manager-in-waiting.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on what the likes of Aurier have said (Telegraph), Sacramento was not very popular with the Spurs squad and rubbed people up the wrong way. However tactically astute he might be, the 33-year-old might have to work on his man-management skills if he is to be a successful head coach.
