Christian Eriksen’s move to Brentford is a straight six-month deal with the option to extend for a year removed for greater flexibility, according to Jay Harris of The Athletic.
The Bees confirmed the signing of former Tottenham playmaker Eriksen on Monday after he was released by Inter Milan in mid-December.
The 29-year-old is currently in the Netherlands training with the youth set-up at Ajax to build and maintain match sharpness.
Eriksen was initially offered a six-month deal with the choice to extend for another 12 months at its conclusion (Daily Mail), however Harris has confirmed the extension has been taken off.
The journalist explained Brentford’s decision to do so was to give both club and player room to manoeuvre at the end of the season where his performances can be evaluated.
Eriksen has not played since suffering a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 encounter with Finland in mid-June.
His release from Inter came as a result of not being allowed to play in Serie A with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) fitted (Sky Sports)
I now understand that the 1y option on Christian Eriksen's deal was removed which means that it is just a six-month contract with Brentford.
Affords both parties some flexibility at the end of the season depending on how he performs.#BrentfordFC #EriksenJoins @TheAthleticUK

Spurs Web Opinion
This is interesting as it is a simple six-month deal. If Eriksen performs well or to a good level, that could attract a number of clubs come the end of the season, and that may include Spurs who have had flutterings of interest in bringing him back.
