Report: Former Spurs striker reveals he has left club after nearly five months

Former Spurs star, Emmanuel Adebayor has left Paraguayan side Olimpia just under five months after joining them (Eurosport).

The 36-year-old made the shock move to Paraguay where he was reunited with former Manchester City teammate, Roque Santa Cruz.

However, he and the club have mutually agreed to terminate his contract due to health fears caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adebayor had featured just four times for Olimpia but his last game for the club will be remembered after he was sent off for dangerous play in a Conmebol Libertadores game against Defensa y Justicia (transfermarkt).

The former African player of the year joined Spurs from Manchester City on a permanent basis in 2012 for just £6m following a season at the Lilywhites on loan and left as a free agent three years later (Transfermarkt).

Over the 113 appearances for Spurs, Adebayor netted on 42 occasions and provided 20 assists during that time.

Spurs Web Opinion

Adebayor had some good times at Spurs but since leaving the Lilywhites his career has been on a downward spiral with time in Turkey before heading off to Paraguay for less than five months. Surely, this will bring an end to his playing career, or will he seek another big payday as some small club look to bring in a huge name like his?
