Report: Four clubs battling Spurs for wide-man Conte is a ‘big fan of’

90 min have revealed that Tottenham continue to retain an interest in Adama Traore but explain that the North London club face quite a bit of competition for the Wolves star’s services.

Tottenham’s pursuit of Traore back in January of this year was well documented, with reports indicating at the time that Antonio Conte wanted to convert the Spaniard into a right wing-back (ESPN).

It was Barcelona who won the race for the pacy wide-man at the time but he struggled to make an impact at Camp Nou, with the Catalan side deciding against making the loan deal permanent in the summer.

Traore’s current deal at the Molineux Stadium runs out next summer (Transfermarkt) and 90 min have now asserted that Spurs could reignite their interest in the 26-year-old, 12 months on from their failed pursuit of the player.

The report asserts that Conte remains ‘a big fan’ of the Wolves star but it is suggested that the Lilywhites are expected to face quite a bit of competition for the winger from the Premier League, as well as from around Europe.

Leeds United are said to be watching Traore’s situation while Inter Milan and Napoli are also thought to hold a ‘strong interest’ in the Wolves man. Finally, 90 min add that the Spain international could also return to La Liga, with Atletico Madrid also keen on his signing.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do expect Spurs to be in the market for a right wing-back in January but I would be surprised if we went back in for Traore. It seems like Conte and Paratici have moved on from the Spaniard, and are now looking at other options like Denzel Dumfries and Anthony Gordon (who can be converted into a wing-back).
