Report: Four further Chelsea players likely to miss Tottenham clash

On top of the injuries and unavailabilities that Thomas Tuchel is facing for his side’s clash against Tottenham, The Mirror have claimed that four other Chelsea players are also likely to miss this evening’s cup tie.

Tottenham will take on the Blues in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final this evening in what will be the first time Antonio Conte is returning to Stamford Bridge since leaving Chelsea in 2018.

Conte has confirmed that Ryan Sessegnon and Steven Bergwijn remain out for the clash but Spurs’ opponents are also set to be without some of their key players.

It emerged earlier this week that Trevoh Chalobah is expected to miss the cup tie after aggravating his hamstring problem in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool on Sunday.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will also be unavailable after joining up with the Senegal squad for the African Cup of Nations.

The Mirror have now revealed that in addition to those two players, Reece James, Ben Chilwell, Andreas Christensen and Timo Werner are also not expected to be involved in the first leg.

The report explains that Tuchel is also waiting to make a late decision on Ruben Loftus-Cheek since the midfielder is recovering from Covid-19.

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite missing some key players, Chelsea’s starting lineup will still be extremely strong and I expect Tuchel to take the game very seriously, especially now that their chances of winning the Premier League title seem slim.

Lukaku will also be motivated to win back the Chelsea fans after his recent controversial comments. So, if we can come out of the first leg with a draw, that would be a brilliant result for us.
