According to a report from Foot Mercato, Leicester, Aston Villa, Everton and Wolves are all showing interest in Lille midfielder, Boubakary Soumare, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.
Soumare has gone from strength to strength since leaving Paris Saint-Germain to join Lille in 2017 and has even been dubbed the ‘new Paul Pogba’ due to his impressive physicality and technique on the ball.
The midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in January of last year and some reports in the British press have claimed that the North Londoners are continuing to track the 22-year-old ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
However, if Foot Mercato are to be believed, swooping for the Lille star is likely to prove anything but straightforward as the midfielder is expected to be highly sought after this summer.
Apart from the aforementioned Premier League clubs, AC Milan are also said to be courting Soumare after trying in vain to land the midfielder in January.
It is explained that Leicester are the front-runners for the former France Under-21 international’s signature, with discussions between the Foxes and Lille said to be progressing positively.
Spurs Web Opinion
As talented as Soumare is, I do not expect us to get into a bidding war for the midfielder, particularly with Oliver Skipp returning to the club after an impressive season on loan at Carrow Road.
