Report: Four Premier League managers on Spurs radar to replace Conte

The Athletic have revealed named Roberto De Zerbi, Steve Cooper, Thomas Frank and Marco Silva among potential candidates to replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham.

Apart from the obvious names such as Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel (Daily Mail), reports have also suggested over recent weeks De Zerbi could be considered to replace Conte.

The Brighton boss’ work at the Amex Stadium is said to have impressed the Tottenham hierarchy (Football Insider).

GiveMeSport suggested a couple of days ago that Cooper is expected to be considered by Spurs, given the stellar job he has done at Nottingham Forest.

The report added that the 43-year-old could also attract interest from the likes of Chelsea, West Ham United and Southampton.

The Athletic have now backed up Tottenham’s interest in both Cooper and De Zerbi but have thrown two more names into the hat in the form of Frank and Silva.

The report states that the Danish coach’s work at the Brentford Community Stadium has ‘not gone unnoticed’ at Spurs while the fact that Silva is yet to sign a contract extension with Fulham, could make him a target.

Additionally, the report also states that Fabio Paratici is a big admirer of former Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique, who left the Spain job after the World Cup in Qatar.

Hiring Enrique will be a huge risk since it has been six years since he has been in club football and he has no experience in the Premier League.

Out of the four Premier League managers mentioned, De Zerbi strikes me as being the most promising candidate but it remains to be seen if he can be prized away from Brighton.

While Frank is clearly a very good man-manager, I have my doubts about how he will perform at a bigger club when expectations are a lot higher.
