Report: Four Serie A clubs eyeing move for midfielder wanted by Spurs

According to Italian outlet Calcio Casteddu, the competition for Tottenham target Nahitan Nandez is heating up ahead of the January transfer window.

Nandez was heavily linked with a move to Spurs during the summer transfer window, with reports stating the Uruguay international had put in a transfer request in order to complete a move to the Lilywhites.

However, the 25-year-old ended up staying put at Cagliari, with the Lilywhites allegedly finding the Serie A club’s €30m (£25.7m) asking price for the midfielder to be too excessive.

Nandez’s agent Pablo Bentacur admitted earlier this month that the Cagliari president has promised to sell the midfielder when the transfer window opens in January.

Calcio Napoli 24 even claimed this week that Fabio Paratici is ‘ready to close’ a deal for the Uruguayan international in January.

However, Calcio Casteddu have now suggested that Tottenham could face plenty of competition for Nandez, with the midfielder having admirers at several Serie A clubs.

The report claims that while Spurs hold a ‘very strong’ interest in the midfielder, the player is also on the radars of Inter, Roma, Napoli.

Lazio are named as the latest club to have entered the race for Nandez, with Maurizio Sarri alleged to be a fan of the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

I was not convinced that Nandez is good enough for Spurs if the club do harbour ambitions of getting into the top four in the coming seasons.

One would hope that Paratici is keeping a close eye on Franck Kessie’s situation at Milan, with the Ivorian’s contract set to run out at the end of the season.
