Report: Four Spurs players could sit out for Carabao Cup quarter-final against Stoke

The Carabao Cup quarter-final against Stoke City tomorrow offers Tottenham a perfect opportunity to forget about their league form and build some momentum again after a disappointing week.

Tottenham certainly cannot afford to take the game lightly, with the winner tomorrow evening booking their place in the semi final of the competition.

However, Jose Mourinho could still rotate some of his players rather than starting with a full-strength side, particularly given Tottenham’s congested festive fixture schedule over the next couple of weeks.

Football.London has revealed that four first-team stars are considered doubtful to be involved in the clash against Michael O’Neill’s side.

Giovani Lo Celso is said to be likely to miss out after coming off against Leicester with an injury on Sunday, while it is claimed that Mourinho might also choose not to risk Gareth Bale after handing him 45 minutes against the Foxes.

While Erik Lamela admitted that he is back fit, the report claims that the game might have come too soon for the Argentine, while Japhet Tanganga is also not fit to make the trip to the bet365 stadium.

Spurs Web Opinion

While a largely second-string side will, in all likelihood, be enough to beat Stoke, I suspect Mourinho will name a really strong side. I would not be surprised to potentially see Kane, Son and Ndombele start on Wednesday as we simply cannot afford anything other than a win, especially given our poor results in the league over the last week.
