Report: Frank Lampard could hand Chelsea man his debut against Spurs

Jose Mourinho’s men will certainly still be reeling from the late handball decision that cost them two points against Newcastle on Sunday but they do not have much time to dwell on the result as they have a tough London derby against Chelsea tomorrow evening.

Chelsea, like Spurs, were held to a draw at the weekend but it was a case of two points earned for Frank Lampard’s men after they fought back from 3-0 down at half time against West Brom to level the game 3-3.

Football.London has revealed that Lampard could be set to hand new arrival Edouard Mendy his Chelsea debuts in the Carabao Cup clash against Spurs in place of Willy Caballero, who started against the Baggies.

The report reveals that wingers Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic, who missed out against West Brom with respective injuries, are both making decent progress but are considered as doubtful for the game.

Meanwhile, Thiago Silva is also expected to be fit for the game despite being withdrawn in the latter stages at The Hawthorns.

Spurs Web Opinion

Chelsea have an excellent squad and Lampard will field a strong eleven despite the injuries and the rotation. The likes of Giroud, Hudson-Odoi, Chilwell and Azpilicueta did not start for them on Saturday and so it is likely that they will all play on Tuesday. Mourinho will certainly want to get one over Lampard after losing both matches to him last season and I expect us to name quite a strong side as well.
