Report: Free agent Spurs looked at last summer moves to Saudi Arabia

Kicker have reported that Robin Quaison, who Spurs were said to be looking at last summer, has now signed a deal to move to Saudia Arabia this summer.

Quaison became a free agent at the end of the last season and was quickly snapped up by Al-Ettifaq in the transfer window.

The Daily Mail reported last summer that Spurs and Burnley were both showing an interest in the Mainz striker, who was valued at £14m at the time.

However, given a chance to sign him on a free deal 12 months later, it seems as though the time has passed for the North London club.

Mainz sporting director, Christian Heidel recently alluded to the fact that Quaison was about to leave on a free deal, claiming that the club could not extend every contract (Kicker and BILD).

Spurs Web Opinion:

It seems as though if Spurs wanted to sign Quaison on a free, they probably could have. While I do believe that Paratici is looking for free transfers, he is known to go for big names and I can’t imagine that Quaison was on his radar.
