Report: French club have bid turned down for Tottenham defensive target

When it comes to central defence, Tottenham Hotspur have had few problems in recent years, boasting one of the best partnerships in world football.

Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld have played together at Ajax, Tottenham, and for Belgium, and as a result, have an amazing understanding on the pitch.

The likes of Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, and Juan Foyth have also added depth and youth to the central defence at Spurs in more recent years.

However, Pochettino may have to look to replace his two star Belgians before long, with both being past the 30 barrier and both having under a year left on their current contracts.

One man who has been linked with Spurs as a potential replacement is Sampdoria centre-back, Joachim Andersen (Standard), who is said to be worth around £30m this summer (Daily Star).

However, not only do the Daily Star claim that Arsenal and AC Milan are also interested, but they have revealed that Lyon have had a £16m bid turned down for Andersen.

Spurs may have to move quickly for the 23-year-old if they want to secure him before someone else swoops in.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I like the sound of Andersen and I like the sound of his price tag even more. Young, highly-rated, not over-priced; he sounds like a Daniel Levy deal through and through. However, I wouldn’t want to mess with any of Lyon’s transfer plans too much if Spurs want to get Tanguy Ndombele in as soon as possible.
