Report: French club name asking price for centre-back wanted by Mourinho

According to a report by CalcioMercato, Lille have told Tottenham Hotspur that they will have to pay €45m (£39m) if they wish to sign Sven Botman at the end of the season.

Lille signed Botman to replace Gabriel Magalhaes, who completed a move to Arsenal last summer but not a lot was known about the Dutchman at the time.

However, the 21-year-old has quickly made a name for himself at Lille and is now considered one of the best young central defenders in Ligue 1.

Duncan Castles revealed in The Transfer Window Podcast (as relayed by The Express) in January that Jose Mourinho was a fan of the youngster, with Fabrizio Romano also revealing that Spurs and Liverpool had registered an interest in the Lille stopper.

CalcioMercato have now claimed that Botman is also attracting interest from Juventus and AC Milan but the report mentions Spurs and Liverpool as the front-runners for his signature.

It is revealed that while Lille are open to letting the young defender leave, however, they are not willing to do so for less than €45m (£39m).

Spurs Web Opinion

We seem to be getting linked with a lot of young, up and coming defenders like Botman and Nikola Milenkovic but I suspect Jose Mourinho (if he is still at Spurs at the end of the season) would want to bring in an experienced campaigner who can be a leader at the back. We already have two promising young defenders at the club in Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga.
