Report: French giants have held talks with Spurs regarding defender

Tottenham have already sold one right-back this summer in Kieran Trippier and recent reports indicate that they could also let Serge Aurier leave with the defender reportedly attracting interest from his former side PSG (Daily Mail).

A report in today’s L’Equipe has confirmed that PSG’s Sporting Director Leonardo already held talks with Tottenham three weeks ago over the possibility of signing Aurier.

The report claims that the phone call lasted 10 minutes and Leonardo made it clear that PSG were interested in bringing Aurier back to the French capital.

It is also suggested that the Lilywhites are open to selling Aurier after falling down the pecking order at the club.

However, the report makes it clear that the Ivorian international is not PSG’s main priority this window and the deal is unlikely to materialise after the French giants failed in their pursuit to sell Thomas Meunier to a Premier League club this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Selling Aurier would leave us with two inexperienced players in Kyle Waker-Peters and Juan Foyth to compete for the right back position. However, both players have an abundance of talent and based on Pochettino’s remarks in his press conferences, it looks like he is prepared to take the risk and use Dier or Sissoko for the position in case of a crisis.
