Report: French international expected to leave Spurs this summer

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko is expected to leave the club this summer, according to Football.London.

The 31-year-old is reported to be attracting interest from a number of European clubs.

Sissoko admitted in May ahead of his involvement with France at Euro 2020 that he is open to leaving North London after what he claims has been a difficult season for him and plans to sit down with the club to discuss his future (Foot Mercato).

He only started 15 of Tottenham’s Premier League matches last season and admits that since he will soon be 32, he wants to be playing and enjoying his football in the latter stages of his career (transfermarkt).

Sky Italy revealed last month that Napoli were keen on signing the former Newcastle United player.

Sissoko is a natural athlete but lacks the footballing ability to make him a top-class midfielder. He initially struggled following his move from the Magpies and did enjoy some success later on, but his partnership with Harry Winks has proved to be ineffective.

He is said to earn £80,000-a-week (Spotrac) and freeing up such a sizeable wage packet will hopefully allow Fabio Paratici to focus on other targets.
