Report: French international linked with Spurs unlikely to move this month

According to Le10Sport, Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Lemar, who has been linked with a move to Spurs is unlikely to leave the Wanda Metropolitano this month.

Spanish publication AS reported over a week ago that the 24-year-old was surplus to requirements at Diego Simeone’s side and that Tottenham were favourites to sign him.

However, reports coming out of Spain now suggest that the French international is set to stay put at the Spanish capital.

Le10Sport claim that Lemar wants to complete the season with Atletico and explore the possibility of leaving at the end of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo claim that the La Liga giants wanted to sell the winger n this month to fund their January spending but they too also suggest that he will remain with his current employer.

They reveal that the former Monaco man doesn’t have many options in January with a move to Wolves said to be the most lucrative option on the table.

It is claimed that Lemar has subsequently decided to stay at Atletico for at least six more months.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am pleased that there were no legs to this rumour as Lemar’s time at Atletico has raised some serious doubts about his quality. Additionally, Atletico will have likely looked to recoup most of what they paid for him a year and a half ago and so it would have been an expensive gamble to take.
