Maxime Lopez, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham reportedly wants to leave Marseille this summer, according to Spanish news outlet Estadio Deportivo.

The midfielder has been a regular in the Marseille side over the last four seasons and has been one of the most consistent performers in Ligue 1 (transfermarkt).

The 22-year-old started out as a creative number ten but has now evolved into a deep-lying playmaker capable of controlling the game from midfield.

The Daily Star reported last month that the midfielder, who has just a year left to run on his current contract with Andre Villas-Boas’ side, was offered to the North Londoners after talks over a new deal had stalled.

Estadio Deportivo have now reiterated that Lopez will not sign an extension with Marseille and wants to leave the club to take up a new challenge this summer.

The report reveals that Sevilla are keen on signing the Frenchman but Lopez is said to have several options to chose from.

Spurs Web Opinion

There are many reasons why this link makes no sense. Lopez isn’t the type of player Jose likes, especially as a midfield pivot. In many respects, he is just an inferior version of Harry Winks, and I am not sure his style of play makes him suitable to the Premier League.
