The Athletic have reported that some French sources are shocked at how keen Tottenham are on Lyon defender, Joachim Andersen this summer.
Andersen enters the summer transfer market off the back of an impressive season with Fulham in the Premier League last time out.
Spurs, meanwhile, struggled at centre-back, to say the least. Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld all endured sub-par seasons for the North London club.
The Athletic reveal that some French insiders are surprised that Tottenham were not put off by the fact that Andersen was relegated with Fulham last season. They also do not quite understand why there is so much excitement around the centre-back.
Andersen has been named as one of the defenders on Tottenham’s radar this summer and Lyon are said to be ready to accept an offer of £25m.
The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke also revealed recently on the View From The Lane podcast that Anderson had chosen Spurs as the club he would like to join.
