Report: Frustrated Spurs youngster unwilling to be a bit-part player next season

The Evening Standard have reported that Ryan Sessegnon is frustrated at his situation at Tottenham and is considering his future ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report claims that the 20-year-old was keen to link up with Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs last summer and thus refused to talk to other interested clubs, including Manchester United.

After missing out the first few months of the season with an injury, the former Fulham man saw only a few opportunities come his way after the arrival of Jose Mourinho.

However, he has not played a single minute since the restart with the Spurs boss opting to name Dennis Cirkin on the bench against Everton ahead of Sessegnon, who the North Londoners paid £25million to sign last summer.

The Evening Standard reports that the youngster is left puzzled by his situation as he knows Mourinho wanted to sign him when he was United boss.

It is said that the England Under-21 international is considering his future as he does not want to spend next season as a bit-part player.

However, the report does suggest that Mourinho still rates Sessegnon highly and sees him as a future left-back of the mould of former Chelsea and Arsenal defender Ashley Cole.

It sounds like Mourinho very much views Sessegnon as one for the future but does not consider him ready to be first-choice at the moment. Therefore, a loan move to a mid-table Premier League club next season, where he could get game time, would be ideal both for Sessegnon and Spurs.
