Report: Fulham make new approach to sign out-of-favour Spurs player

Football Insider have revealed that Fulham have made a new approach for Tottenham centre-back Joe Rodon.

Rodon has not travelled with the squad to South Korea, and although reports indicate that the Welshman missed out on the pre-season tour due to illness (Charlie Eccleshare), his future at Spurs has been the subject of press speculation.

The Evening Standard reported last week that the 24-year-old is ‘desperate’ to leave Tottenham in search of regular first-team football.

Football Insider have now claimed that Fulham are keen to sign Rodon on a permanent basis after winning promotion to the Premier League.

The report states that the Cottagers first targeted the centre-back earlier this summer, and have now got back in touch with Spurs regarding a deal for the former Swansea man.

It is suggested that Marco Silva’s men are keen to secure Rodon before the window shuts, and that Antonio Conte has given the green light for the defender to be sold.

It would be interesting to see what transfer fee Spurs could command for Rodon given that he has hardly played any football over the last two years.

The north Londoners’ best hope would be for other clubs to register their interest with the aim of driving up the price. There is no doubt Rodon needs regular first-team football this season with the World Cup on the horizon for Wales in November.
