Tottenham’s hopes of signing Real Madrid defender Achraf Hakimi may have taken a blow with reports from Spain suggesting that he is expected to return to Borussia Dortmund next season.
Hakimi’s two-year loan spell in the Bundesliga comes to end this summer and the right-back has caught the eye with some of his performances in Germany.
Bladi.net reported earlier this month that Tottenham were locked in a battle with Arsenal and Chelsea for the Moroccan international’s signature this summer.
The 21-year-old recently admitted that he is yet to make a decision over his future. (CadenaSer via Goal).
AS reported last week that Dortmund were keen on extending Hakimi’s stay at Westfalenstadion by completing another loan deal or signing him on a permanent basis.
The same publication has now revealed that the defender will leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and is expected to agree on a return to Dortmund.
Spurs Web Opinion
I am not convinced Hakimi is a target for us to begin with. While a loan deal could be quite a lucrative option given the financial impact of the coronavirus, I don’t believe the 21-year-old will be much of an improvement on Aurier as he is just as suspect defensively. I would much rather prefer us to sign Max Aarons.
