Report: Furious Tottenham set to make Eriksen exit difficult

Tottenham Hotspur are set to play hardball with Inter Milan over their pursuit of Christian Eriksen.

The Mirror report that Spurs have been less than impressed by the Italian giants actions with Jose Mourinho voicing his displeasure at Inter boss Antonio Conte who publicly discussed his desire to sign players whose contracts are expiring when he was asked about Eriksen (BBC).

The report claims that Eriksen’s agent will today meet with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy after the Serie A side made an improved £11million offer plus performance-based bonuses.

Spurs are set to stand firm on their £20million valuation of the 27-year-old who is out of contract in North London at the end of the current campaign.

Eriksen is able to hold discussions with non-English clubs over a pre-contract deal with this month representing Tottenham’s last chance of cashing in on the former Ajax playmaker.

The Champions League finalists are refusing to be bullied into a quick sale despite Eriksen’s contract situation with Inter likely to have to improve their offer if they want to land the Dane this month.

Opinion

I would expect nothing less from Levy than to negotiate to the final hour in order to recoup as much of a transfer fee as possible. Eriksen’s form has been sub-standard for over a year and it is clear to see that his head is now elsewhere.
