Report: Future of £23m signing at Tottenham in doubt

Serge Aurier’s Tottenham future is in doubt as the club are said to be considering their options at right-back this summer, The Daily Mail has revealed.

Aurier admitted to coming close to leaving Spurs last summer (Bal des Productions) after failing to hit the expected heights in his first two seasons in North London following his £23million move from PSG (Guardian).

He ended up staying and he has arguably been the player to benefit the most from Jose Mourinho’s arrival.

The Ivorian seems to have won the Spurs boss’ trust and is now the established first-choice right-back at the club.

However, that has not stopped the Ivory Coast international from being linked with a move away from the club this summer, with AC Milan said to be keen on bringing him to the Serie A (Tuttosport via Milan News).

The Daily Mail claim that Spurs are are now on the lookout for a new right-back and still have Norwich City’s Max Aarons on their radar which could make Aurier’s future in North London vulnerable.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do expect us to sign a right-back this summer to challenge Aurier next season. However, I don’t think the former PSG man is likely to be sold this summer as Mourinho clearly values him. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if the club offers him a new deal as Jose will want to have two competitive options in each position.
