Report: Future of Tottenham target yet to be decided – Club need to raise funds

According to the print edition of Corriere dello Sport (03/05/22 as relayed by Sport Witness), Lautaro Martinez’s future is yet to be decided amidst interest from the likes of Tottenham.

Martinez thrived under Conte at Inter Milan and it was previously reported that the Italian was keen on reuniting with the forward at Spurs (Inter Live).

Sources from Italy have also suggested that Inter are open to cashing in on the 24-year-old this summer (TuttoSport).

The Times reported a few days ago that the striker is valued at £60m-£70m by the Nerazzurri, with Arsenal also allegedly keen on landing him.

Corriere have now stated that Inter desperately need to raise funds this summer through player sales to balance their books.

They explain that Martinez is perhaps the easiest to shift for a big fee due to the interest he is generating, with Spurs named in the report as one of the clubs with their eye on the forward.

However, Corriere add that Martinez leaving the San Siro is not a certainty, stating that it is ‘still too early’ to rule out the possibility of the striker staying.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not surprised to see Spurs being heavily linked with a move for Martinez, given his relationship with Conte and the fact that we bid for the Argentine last summer.

However, I would be surprised if we ended up winning the race for the 24-year-old, given that the likes of Arsenal and Man Utd are in more desperate need of a top-class forward than we are.
