Report: Galatasaray boss has spoken to Mourinho about Tottenham midfielder

According to a report in Turkish publication Sabah (as relayed by Inside Futbol), Galatasaray have emerged as contenders to sign Gedson Fernandes on loan until the end of the season.

Fernandes has barely got any game this season after Tottenham did not include the midfielder in their Europa League squad for the group stages due to the club’s issues with meeting the regulations regarding the number of foreign-trained players.

Although the Portugal Under-21 international’s loan deal at Spurs runs until the end of the season, Jose Mourinho has admitted that he would respect Benfica’s decision to cut short the loan deal this month (Sky Sports).

Previous reports have indicated that Benfica could loan out the midfielder to Torino until the end of the season (TuttoMercatoWeb).

Sabah now claims that Fernandes could be on his way to Turkey, with Galatasaray boss Fatih Terim contacting Mourinho to talk about the 22-year-old.

With just a few days left until the transfer window slams shut, it remains to be seen if a deal can be agreed for the on-loan Benfica man to leave Tottenham.

For Fernandes’ sake, I hope that a deal can be worked out to end his Tottenham nightmare. As much as the youngster would have benefited from training with world-class players at Spurs and under the watchful eyes of Mourinho’s coaching staff, at 22 years of age, he needs to be playing regular football to aid his development.
