Report: Gareth Bale could have a big impact on Spurs transfers – even if he doesn’t sign

Following Zinedine Zidane’s comments regarding Welsh superstar Gareth Bale, newspaper outlets have been quick to link the winger with a move back to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Madrid manager claimed that the Welshman is on the way out the door and that he hopes he leaves soon (ESPN).

Recent reports have suggested that Mauricio Pochettino has refused to rule out the possibility of Spurs making a bid for Bale (Standard).

It’s possible that the money Madrid generate from the Bale transfer will be used to bring in a replacement. Since the start of the window, links have been made between Madrid and both Paul Pogba and Tottenham’s own Christian Eriksen (AS).

Some recent reports have suggested that Eriksen has been offered a new deal at Spurs that would see his wages doubled (Metro). Should Eriksen sign, then perhaps Bale’s transfer will allow Madrid to reignite their interest in United’s Pogba.

Paddy Power have claimed that a Bale sale could set off a chain reaction of transfers, including a possible swap deal involving Bale and Eriksen, or a Pogba to Madrid and Eriksen to United triangle.

Spurs Web Opinion

Bale’s future at Madrid looks to be all but over and it seems that it will have wider implications on the footballing world. Bale would be an excellent marquee signing but I believe we should be focusing more on completing deals for Lo Celso, Sessegnon and also a right-sided defender.
