Report: Gareth Bale’s agent offered club chance to sign him – They rejected it

According to Cadena COPE (as relayed by Marca), Atletico Madrid have turned down the chance to sign Gareth Bale, who has also been linked with a return to Tottenham.

Bale is expected to leave Real Madrid when his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu runs out this summer and it was reported a couple of months ago that the Welshman could return to Tottenham for a third spell (El Nacional).

However, The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick subsequently claimed the 32-year-old winger is not considering a return to North London and could instead hang up his boots at the end of the season should Wales not qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.

Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett suggested earlier this month that a return to England is on the cards for the winger but admitted his client will not make a final decision regarding his future until Wales’ World Cup qualifier in June (Record – 16/05/22 – as relayed by The Mirror).

Cadena COPE have now claimed that Barnett recently met with Atletico’s sporting director Andrea Bert to offer the former Spurs man to Los Colchoneros. The report claimed that while Diego Simeone’s men appreciated the offer, they rejected the chance to sign Bale.

If this is true, Bale probably feels his family are well settled in Madrid and does not want to leave the Spanish capital.

To me, it seems like the 32-year-old now has other priorities apart from football, which is fair enough, considering what he has achieved in the game.

It is for that reason that I do not think he will consider returning to Spurs and working with Conte.
