Report: Gareth Bale’s long-term Spurs future appears to be bleak

Tottenham Hotspur caused a media frenzy during the summer when they brought Gareth Bale back to North London on a season long loan deal.

Dozens of fans lined the road outside the club’s Hotspur Way training facility to greet the Welshman when he was chauffeured through the gates for his medical.

The 31-year-old has appeared in twelve games in all competitions this season, of which he has started eight, however, six of those have been in the Europa League and he has started just one Premier League match (transfermarkt).

The Times claim that Bale is hoping to feature more in the coming months under Jose Mourinho, however as things stand, Tottenham are not looking to bring him back for a second loan spell next season.

Mourinho decided against bringing on Bale with his side chasing a winner against Fulham on Wednesday evening with the Portuguese instead opting for Erik Lamela and Carlos Vinicius to come off the bench.
