Report: Gareth Bale’s value slashed in half – player now said to be worth this low amount

Tottenham Hotspur waved goodbye to their beloved Gareth Bale back in 2013, with the Welshman going on to bigger and better things in Spain.

Bale made 203 appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring 55 goals in the process. Not bad considering the North London side signed him as a young and relatively unproven left-back from Southampton (Wikipedia).

The Welsh winger scored 38 goals in his last two seasons alone at Spurs, before transferring to Real Madrid for a then world-record fee of £85m (BBC).

Since then, he has gone on to win four Champions League trophies, as well as playing 244 games for Real and scoring an impressive 104 goals.

However, the 30-year-old is now said to have slashed in value in the space of just one year, dropping from £68m on TransferMarkt to just £34m (Sun).

This comes just as Spurs are being linked with a move to bring the Welshman back to North London under Jose Mourinho (AS).

Would £34m be worth it?
