Report: German international could be ‘unattainable’ for Spurs this summer

The Athletic have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Maximilian Arnold but the Wolfsburg midfielder is likely to be out of the North London club’s reach this summer.

Arnold has been a consistent performer in the heart of Wolfsburg’s midfield for the best part of the last decade and has hit even greater heights over the last couple of years.

The 27-year-old was a crucial reason behind why the club were able to pull off an unlikely fourth-placed finish in the Bundesliga last season.

The Athletic claim that the German international is one of the options Spurs are eyeing as they seek to bolster their midfield this summer.

However, it is explained that Arnold could be ‘unattainable’ for Tottenham this summer since Wolfsburg have qualified for the Champions League.

The fact that the midfielder also has five years left on his contract is offered as another reason why the pursuit could be a dead-end for the Lilywhites.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs being linked to so many central midfielders (Kessie, Locatelli etc) could well be a sign that Fabio Paratici considers the position a priority to address. With Skipp now also back at the club, it does seem increasingly likely that both Sissoko and Winks are on their way out.
