Report: Gianluca di Marzio reveals the gap in valuation between Spurs and Atalanta for Romero

Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio has claimed that Atalanta defender Cristian Romero has already reached an agreement with Tottenham in principle over personal terms which would see him sign a five-year contract with the option of a further year.

The report suggests that Tottenham and Atalanta are still negotiating over the valuation of the 23-year-old defender where there is currently a €10m (£8.5m) difference between the two clubs.

The expected loan arrival of Parma centre-back Germán Pezzella has allowed Atalanta to continue their talks with the North Londoners, having seemingly reinforced their backline before a departure takes place.

Before any deal is done to bring Romero to Tottenham, the Serie A side will first have to trigger the option to buy the Argentine international from Juventus, having joined them on a two-year loan deal in September of last year (Football.London).
