Report gives injury update on Lo Celso ahead of Spurs vs Rennes clash

The Evening Standard have revealed that Giovani Lo Celso is expected to be available again on Thursday after recovering from his knee injury.

Both Lo Celso and Cristian Romero picked up their injuries while on international duty with Argentina last month and neither player has featured since.

Antonio Conte confirmed last week that while Romero’s injury is serious and that the centre-back will remain out at least until January, his compatriot will be back in training soon.

According to The Evening Standard, the midfielder has now recovered from his knee problem ahead of Tottenham’s Europa Conference League clash against Rennes.

However, it is explained that Lo Celso may not be deemed ready to start Thursday’s clash.

In addition, Conte will be without Ryan Sessegnon, who is suspended for the clash after his red cards against Mura last month while Sergio Reguilon is a doubt for the game after coming off with a knock in the 3-0 win over Norwich.

The Spurs boss will also be sweating on the results of Tuesday’s PCR tests to find out who is available for Thursday’s clash after seven first-team players at the club tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week.

Spurs Web Opinion

Hopefully, Lo Celso can now keep himself fit for the rest of the season and prove his worth to Conte.

While the midfielder has come in for criticism for some of his performances this season, I do have sympathy for the fact that he has been unable to build any momentum due to his constant injury issues.

However, I do not see how the Argentine would be able to force himself into the starting eleven unless Conte shifts from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2, which seems unlikely given Moura’s impressive form.
