Report: Goalkeeper allegedly eyed by Antonio Conte is open to an exit

According to a report from AreaNapoli, Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, is open to an exit from the Serie A club.

Despite Lloris being in impressive form over the last couple of years, the Tottenham captain is now into the final year of his contract.

The Spurs number one has said that he will have talks with the club about his future in the coming weeks but the North Londoners are being linked with various goalkeepers around Europe.

90 min have claimed that Spurs could move for Ajax goalkeeper Andrea Onana, whose contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena runs out at the end of the season.

The Telegraph have reported that Antonio Conte is eyeing Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as Lloris’ long-term replacement.

The Independent revealed at the start of this month that Meret was another of the goalkeeping options on Spurs’ radar.

If AreaNapoli’s latest update is to be believed, the shot-stopper could be on the market soon.

The report claims that the Italian goalkeeper could be relegated to playing second fiddle to David Ospina if the Colombian pens a new contract at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

It is explained that Meret could thus look elsewhere in order to get regular first-team football.

The Napoli star is said to be attracting interest from both Juventus and Inter Milan but Tottenham are not mentioned as a potential destination in for the 24-year-old in the report.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would personally like to see Lloris being handed a new contract as the Frenchman is evidently still one of the best shot-stoppers in the game.

However, going by the goalkeepers we are being linked with, I suspect Conte wants to bring in someone with better distribution.
