Report: Good news for Spurs and Eric Dier coming out of Bayern Munich

Sky Deutschland have now contradicted what has been reported by other German outlets about Eric Dier by insisting that the centre-back has impressed since his switch from Tottenham to Bavaria.

It came as a surprise to many when Bayern Munich decided to sign Dier last month but so far, the move has worked out for the centre-back, who has made six Bundesliga appearances since arriving at the Allianz Arena.

Last week, Sport Bild suggested that there were some concerns at the German club about the 30-year-old’s lack of pace and his performances.

The outlet pointed out that should Dier continue making more appearances, an automatic clause would be triggered, with the Bundesliga side having to pay €3m (£2.5m) to sign him permanently.

The report added that the former Tottenham man’s future at the club is now in doubt since the man who signed him, Thomas Tuchel, is departing the club at the end of the season.

Dier has impressed at Bayern Munich

However, Sky Deutschland have now reported something rather different about the centre-back, suggesting that those in Bavaria are happy with his performances.

It is alleged that the scepticism that existed when the England international arrived last month ‘no longer exists’ in light of his solid displays.

However, like Bild, the publication also suggests that Tuchel departing the club may put the defender in an ‘awkward situation’ as it was the former Chelsea boss who pushed for his signing.

Sky Deutschland also quote Dier as saying about the Bayern boss’ departure: “It’s disappointing. He brought me here. We have a good relationship. Still, it’s a shame because he’s a very good coach.”

Tuchel’s departure may be a problem for Dier as if the German is replaced by a manager who plays progressive football with a high line, the former Tottenham man may not be a natural fit for the system and might have to find a new club again.
