The Daily Mail have revealed there is a growing expectation that Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur will part ways at the end of the current season.
The report explains that Conte arrived back in London on Sunday and is expected to take charge of proceedings for the second leg against AC Milan on Wednesday.
However, it is said that the 53-year-old’s long-term position at N17 is now under ‘significant uncertainty’.
Conte’s current contract at Tottenham runs out at the end of the season and The Mail state that there has been little progress regarding a potential extension.
It is said that although Spurs have the option to extend the Italian’s contract by another 12 months, there isn’t a major appetite to trigger that clause.
Finally, the publication asserts that there is a sense behind the scenes at Tottenham that it is best for all parties to go their separate ways at the end of the season.
Spurs Web Opinion
For many reasons, Conte and Spurs have just not proven to be the right fit.
Unless things turn around considerably over the next couple of months and we manage to do something special in the Champions League, I do not think the club will consider offering the Italian a new deal.
