Report: Growing hope Tottenham duo could return from injury vs Chelsea

The Standard have reported there is growing hope within Tottenham that forward duo, Steven Bergwijn and Heung-min Son, could be fit for the game against Chelsea at the weekend.

Both wingers were called up to their respective Netherlands and South Korea international sides during the break, and each picked up a knock before returning to Tottenham.

As such, Son and Bergwijn were not included in the matchday squad against Crystal Palace, with Spurs falling to an embarrassing and flat 3-0 defeat.

While it is unclear whether either could make a fast return for the Europa Conference League match against Rennes on Thursday, the Standard do reveal a growing hope that Son and Bergwijn could potentially feature against Chelsea.

This would come as welcome news for Nuno Espirito Santo, who boasted a 100 per cent win record without conceding a goal in the Premier League until Tottenham’s injury woes over the international break.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Breakaway football is going to be the play against Chelsea, as it was against Man City on opening day. In order for that to work, Son and Bergwijn have to be in the starting line-up, so their returns would be huge for Tottenham and Nuno.
