Report: Guardiola told his players to ‘eat the f****** s***’ after Champions League defeat to Spurs

Many Spurs fans would have thought that their victory over Man City across two legs in the Champions League would be their most dramatic for some time.

However, the drama was upped even further during the club’s semi-final against Ajax when Lucas Moura bagged a second-half hat-trick to see Spurs come from 3-0 down on aggregate.

Unfortunately for City, they had to watch the Lilywhites progress to the Champions League final thinking what could have been.

After Fernando Llorente scored a late goal to edge Spurs ahead on aggregate via a combination of his hip and his hand, it looked as though it might not be Man City’s night.

However, the Citizens huffed and puffed until they finally got the breakthrough with just seconds to spare, after Raheem Sterling tapped home a 93rd-minute winner.

One minute later and VAR ruled the goal out for offside on Aguero, sending Spurs through to the semis in dramatic fashion.

In a new book (Pep’s City: The Making of a Superteam), it has been revealed that the Man City manager had some rather choice words for his players after that defeat.

The Sun quote: ‘I’m proud of you. I know you feel like s*** and you think it’s not fair.

‘Well, that’s exactly what we’re going to do now. Eat this f****** s*** that we have to eat.

‘Because we did everything to eliminate Spurs and they f****** beat us, we’re out on our f****** a*****.

‘Now we just have to fight for everything we have left, stand up and fight for what we can still win.’
