Report: Harry Kane could ‘buy himself free’ to speed up move to Bayern Munich

Bild have claimed that Harry Kane could even give up part of his salary to make up the difference between Bayern Munich’s and Tottenham’s valuation of him.

The report reveals that Bayern are now ready to offer €85m (£73m) plus €10m (£8.5m) in bonuses for Kane but the amount is not enough to satisfy Tottenham.

The centre-forward is said to be keen on completing the transfer soon and is ‘getting ready’ to make his debut for the German club in the Supercup against RB Leipzig on August 12.

Harry Kane could take a wage drop to join Bayern

It is alleged that if Tottenham do not accept Bayern’s latest offer, the England captain could ‘buy himself free’ by giving up a significant part of his €24m (£20.6m) per season salary to bridge the difference between the two clubs.

The report explains that Bayern would be able to compensate Kane with later payments in the form of various bonuses. As things stand, it is asserted that the Bundesliga giants remain ‘optimistic’ about getting the deal over the line.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear from Kane’s silence that he is keen on completing a move to Bayern. However, given that the striker would be a free agent next summer, I see no reason why he would give up a portion of his own salary to complete a switch to the Allianz Arena right now.
