Report: Harry Kane in talks over improved Spurs deal

Harry Kane has been in discussions with Tottenham Hotspur over a new contract after admitting defeat in his hope to join Manchester City, according to The Times.

The report claims that the 28-year-old striker is talking to the club over an improved contract with the hope of earning around £400,000-a-week to match the valuation which the club put on his head.

The England captain was wanted by Manchester City, however, the Premier League champions were not prepared to pay the £150million valuation which Daniel Levy had placed on the head of his star man.

Kane signed a six-year contract in 2018 which saw the marksman double his salary to £200,000-a-week (The Sun) and is now looking to become one of the top earners in the Premier League.

The forward is said to have had his current deal improved to the tune of £300,000-a-week with bonuses last summer when they refused to allow him to leave.

Spurs would only be likely to increase Kane’s salary futher if it was tied in with bonuses, while the player himself could also try to insert a release clause if he penned a new deal to allow him to leave the club next summer.
