Report: Harry Kane makes Spurs contract decision amidst Man Utd interest

The Daily Star have claimed that Harry Kane will not be signing a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur this summer, with Manchester United now set to open talks with the North London club regarding the striker.

Fabrizio Romano reported last week on his YouTube channel that Spurs have no intention of listening to any offers for Kane at the moment as the club first want to present him with an ‘important offer’.

The journalist explained that contract talks have been put on hold for the moment, given that the Lilywhites do not have a head coach or a sporting director in place.

However, if The Daily Star’s latest update is to be believed, Kane has decided against signing a new deal as the striker recognises he has to leave his boyhood club if he is to win trophies.

The publication reveals that Manchester United are keen to land Kane this summer, with Erik Ten Hag said to believe that the 29-year-old is the ‘perfect fit’ for his system.

It is explained that the Old Trafford hierarchy do not want to get involved in a ‘bitter transfer battle’ for the England captain and would thus be prepared to look elsewhere if Tottenham insists on a ‘massive price tag’.

The Daily Star added that United CEO Richard Arnold is preparing to open talks with the London club over a potential £80m deal for the centre-forward.

Given that we look set to miss out on the Champions League, the managerial appointment would have to be a really exciting one to convince Kane to stay.

While I can see the striker committing his future to Spurs if Julian Nagelsmann arrives through the door, I am not sure that the appointment of Arne Slot or Vincent Kompany would do the trick.
