Report: Harry Kane set to miss Premier League opener against Manchester City

Harry Kane is set to miss Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League opener on August 15th, according to The Telegraph.

The 27-year-old forward led England out in the Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy earlier this month and has been granted time off to recover from his international exertions.

Kane is currently on holiday with his family in Barbados and is expected to be still working on his fitness when Tottenham welcome Manchester City to North London in three weeks’ time.

The report claims that Kane is not expected to feature in the match, even if he was set to line up for Manchester City.

The Premier League champions have been heavily linked with a move for the forward over the course of the summer, which gathered more pace after The Sun claimed that Daniel Levy was prepared to allow him to head to the Etihad in a £160million deal.

It is said that Nuno Espirito Santo is ready for Kane to be rested while he builds up his fitness.

It will be interesting to see if any other members of the England squad that played in the final will also miss the opening Premier League weekend, or whether it is a case of trying to take the forward out of the spotlight for a match against a club who are hungry to sign him.
